Happy blond hair whisping in the wind a smile that never ends a stub of a tail that wagged with joy. a gallop through the grass
memories of a best friend
Per never showed signs of pain or uneasiness. His plan was to be there till the end. He had to many obligations and things to tend to...
guarding his home and protecting his friends.
the swimmer who could not swim, his skill was keeping his nose above the waterline. but when asked to take a cool plunge on a hot summer day and he was the first off the dock or to the creek.
from his first week at home, he never lost a desire to make the most of each day... even if it meant he would pay for it the next. a stiff and sore body was his sign of a day well spent.
to his last day, the park was a way to start the day. a breezy view of the neighborhood, a greeting of his friends. a sniff for the remains of the picnics before- maybe even a treat to be found.
I will miss my days with a best friend but feel blessed that he was in my life and showed me how to live well till the very last moment.
Greg: That is an absolutely beautiful tribute to Per. Thank you for taking the time to write that. It's the true essence of our dear beloved Per. Love, a.
